 Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has prayed for a new Nigeria where peace and security will be guaranteed even as he tasks citizens to join the vanguard to rescue the country from all forms of malaise. This he opined can be realised, "if we consciously participate in the electoral process to elect credible leaders into various offices in 2023." Governor Ortom in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking the new year also canvassed for an egalitarian society where every citizen is free to ply his or her legitimate trade according to the dictates of the law and order in any part of the country without fear of molestation or intimidation. No fewer than 607 selected recruits are currently undergoing training at the Bayelsa Sports Institute at Asoama in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state. The Chief Security Coordinator and Coordinator of the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, Brig-Gen. Eric Angaye (rtd), disclosed this during a briefing after the state’s 21st security council meeting presided over by Governor Douye Diri at Government House, Yenagoa. Gen. Angaye said at the end of the two-month training, the recruits would assist the police to enhance security in the state. He explained that they would be deployed to all communities across the state. The Governor in a condolence message to the former minister of Agriculture, described late Mrs Adesina as a quintessential mother who nurtured her children to be responsible citizens respected globally. As God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, it is important to recognize that the reason for the season is the sacrifice of our Heavenly Father and similarly replicate this example in our relationship with others.
