Political Class, Nigerians To Honour Solomon Lar

All   is now set for the public presentation of the official biography/launching of the Late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar Leadership Institute in Abuja. The event promising to bring together, all the political class is in honour of the late elder statesman for his contribution towards entrenching democratic values in Nigeria. Known as “The Emancipator” the late Chief Lar was the first civilian governor of the old Plateau State and subsequently the pioneer national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP). Gov. Diri Rewards Commonwealth Games Medalists, Bayelsa Queens, Coaches

  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has announced a reward package for sportsmen and women from the state that participated in different competitions recently. Olympic silver medalist, who won gold in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games, Blessing Oborududu, and sprinter Timma Godbless, who got gold in 4x100 relay for Nigeria in the African Senior Athletics Championship in Mauritius were among recipients of the governor’s gesture. Among others were teenage table tennis sensation, Samuel Boboye, who won two gold medals for Nigeria in the Africa U-19 championship in Tunisia as well as Bayelsa Queens, champions of the African Female Champions League WAFU Zone B tournament in Yamoussoukro, .Côte d’Ivoire. Coaches of the teams were also rewarded.  Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, says the recovery and eventual return of the seemingly lost asset of the State; Legacy 600 aircraft, is a reality and not mere politics. Governor Wike spoke after receiving the Legacy 600 aircraft that touched down on Tuesday afternoon at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.   At the brief reception that took place at the airport, there were some cultural displays staged by Rivers women and youths to celebrate the return of the State owned Legacy 600 Aircraft secretly abandoned in Germany by the immediate past administration.   Governor Wike explained that it took intelligence report for his administration to discover such asset, owned by the Rivers State government. Tambuwal Urges PMB To Mobilize Sahel Leaders On Insecurity

  President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to assemble leaders of the Sahel region, inundated by frequent attacks of marauders and insurgents, dry climate, food and water shortages, for a summit on the common challenge of insecurity facing the region. The region comprises Senegal, Gambia, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Nigeria. The remaining are: Cameroon, Chad Central African Republic, South Sudan, Sudan and Eritrea.  . ..Says Nigeria Lacks Adequate Census Data Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has faulted the population figures attributed to the state by the National Population Commission (NPC), saying they were grossly under-estimated.  The Bayelsa Governor also said the current population data for the country were inaccurate and called on the NPC to correct past census figures in the 2023 national census exercise. Governor Diri stated this on Tuesday during the Stakeholders Summit on the 2023 Population and Housing Census held at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in Government House, Yenagoa. Buttressing his claim, the Governor stressed that the state had grown beyond the current structure of eight local government areas, noting that, for instance, the projected population of Yenagoa, the state capital, points to the fact that the state’s population was misrepresented. Presidential Amnesty Office Gets New Head of Reintegration

The Reintegration Department of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, has a new head, Mr. Wilfred Musa Oyarebu. Oyarebu was appointed by the new Interim Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu (rtd). The appointment takes immediate effect. With the new assignment, Oyarebu is expected to coordinate the holistic re-engineering of the implementation process associated with the PAP’s Reintegration Phase. Mr. Oyarebu acted as the Head of Reintegration between March and June 2021. His last position before his elevation was  Special Assistant, Research & Documentation from June 2021 to September 2022. Mr Oyarebu, a son of the Niger-Delta, is from Etsako-East LGA, of Edo State. He has speciality in project management before joining PAP in April 2010. Bauchi Govt begins disbursement of N500m grant to traders, artisans

Bauchi State Government has commenced the disbursement of N500 Million grant to traders, artisans and other business community in the state. The Chairman, Amalgamated Bauchi Traders and Artisans Multipurpose Cooperative Union, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Caps, who disclosed this to journalists in Bauchi, said over 4000 traders and artisans across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state have been selected to benefit from the grant.  Abdullahi Caps, who is also a member of the disbursement committee, appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his foresight to assist business community with the grant, saying it will go along way in tackling unemployment and poverty in the state.  According to him, the grant will also enhance business activities thereby generating revenue for the state in addition to providing job opportunities to unemployed youth and women. Obasanjo Arrives Uyo on Monday to Inaugurate 29km Etinan-Ndon Eyo Road & Two Cable Bridges

 All is now set for the official unveiling of the dualized 29km Etinan-Ndon Eyo road with two cable bridges and spur from Mbioto-Ekpene Nten in Etinan to Ikot Akpan in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on Monday, 26th September 2022. Also slated for commissioning same day is the 2.59km Atiamkpat-Ikot Ese Ishiet road with spur in Onna. The Etinan - Ndon Eyo Road, first of its kind in Akwa Ibom State with two cable bridges, will be commissioned by Nigeria's former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. Some correspondents of national newspapers were led to the project site, by Governor Emmanuel’s media aides who took time to explain that the Governor was keeping to his promise of constructing viable economic roads from the hinterland to the urban centers.  The Etinan-Ndon-Eyo road handled by a Chinese construction firm, Wizchino Engineering, connects several communities in Etinan and Onna with the East-West road and grants access to the industrial belt of the State. ...
