 Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed appreciation to workers in the state for their unalloyed support and resilience over the years.  Governor Ortom in a solidarity message to workers as they mark the 2023 Workers' Day said in spite of the harsh economic environment, the workers have "remained undaunted and faithful." He noted that the last eight years have been challenging but the workers kept the wheel of the state alive. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated the matriarch of the Elumelu family, Mrs Suzanne Elumelu, as she clocks 95.  In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor joined family and friends of the great mother of Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr Tony Elumelu and the Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Rt.Hon.  The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to match his words with action by deploying more troops to halt the killings in the state. More  than 134 people have been gruesomely murdered by Fulani herdsmen in the villages in Benue State in the last five days across three local government areas of Otukpo, Apa and Guma. Governor Ortom spoke Saturday, April 8th, 2023 when he paid a condolence visit to the Mgbam community in Nyiev council ward of Guma local government area where 36 people, including internally displaced persons were killed by Fulani herdsmen on Friday night, April 7th, 2023 while over 40 people were injured in the attack.
